Physical Education

We believe that kids should be “fit for life”, so we focus on joy in learning and comfort in participation. We emphasize developing overall good health and teaching children how to work together as a team.

Our physical education program teaches sportsmanship and skill building as well as physical fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and cardio-respiratory endurance. There are also opportunities to acquire motor skills that develop positive body image and confidence as well as participation in rhythmic activities that develop coordination, self-expression, creativity, and endurance. Every class includes appropriate warm-up and introduction as well as play.

All students participate in the President’s Physical Fitness Challenge. This assessment includes tests in running, sit-ups, shuttle run, endurance activities, pushups, and sit and reach. In addition, many students participate in our competitive team sports after school.
