Middle School Art
All Middle School students will have one trimester of art each year. First, the 8th grade, followed by the 7th, and then the 6th grades. One of my goals is to encourage each student's visual expression through art. Students will experience a variety of concepts and explore different media this year. Some of the areas we will study include: abstract art, photo collage, mobiles, drawing, relief sculpture and photography. Another of my goals is to help students develop drawing skills. Each day, students will bring their sketchbooks to class and we will begin class with "Drawing Time." This time is designed to help students focus on art and let them get some practice with observation and sketching many different objects. We also discuss/incorporate artists and artwork relating to each area of study. Self evaluation and critique of work is encouraged.
