Nafisa honored as Top Ten Poet

Nafisa was honored by receiving recognition as being one of the Top Ten poets in the Creative Communication poetry contest.  She will receive a $50 savings bond and a  complimentary copy of the book A celebration of Poets Illinois-Indiana Spring 2008  in which her poem “ Silent Moonlight” is  featured.
 




Silent Moonlight
 
It creeps over walls, trees, and houses
Turning them to silver.
The thin ribbons curl around birds
In drowsy feathered sleep.
It dances over the lake,
Gingerly tiptoes through the forest,
Turning itself into a bird
Flying through the night
Admiring the diamonds of stars
That lay on a velvet purplish bed of sky.
When night is over
It runs like a rabbit from a fox
Back to the moon,
Its gentle mother.
