Countryside Music Program

Kim File

Music Teacher:
Kim File

Countryside provides general music for all students twice weekly for 30 minutes. Because of the small class size, we are able to regularly explore small ensemble opportunities, movement, and creative small group projects. Our curriculum adheres to national standards while allowing for a blend of teaching approaches including Orff, Dalcroze, and Kodaly.

Students have opportunities to explore world percussion, barred instruments, recorder, choral music, folk dance, music history, theory, composition, and many other grade appropriate activities. Mrs. File works closely with classroom teachers to provide frequent interdisciplinary songs and activities to enhance students' learning experiences. Throughout the year, we provide opportunities to perform in after school choir, all-school programs, musicals, and in various community settings.

Students at Countryside are excited about music and they demonstrate a high level of appreciation and musicianship. A majority participate in private musical study, community theatre, choir, music camps, or other arts related activities.
