About
Countryside School is an independent school for grades K-8 that fosters high academic achievement, develops creative and critical thinking skills, and emphasizes balanced growth - intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially – for every student.
Countryside School was founded in 1992 by a group of local families who wanted an independent school with an enriched, projects-based curriculum strong in math and science. That vision continues today and has incorporated high academic achievement and balanced whole child growth. Our graduates are confident problem solvers, outstanding communicators, and thoughtful, responsible individuals.
After renting classrooms during its early years, Countryside purchased 14 acres of land in west Champaign, constructed its main building in 1996, expanded its classroom wing in 2005, and opened its new gym/performing arts center in 2012. Enrollment capacity about 150 students.
